Paperweight Session
This quick, 3-hour workshop gives students a complete furnace glass experience. Working closely with the instructor, each student learns how to gather, shape and add color to their own paperweight. Students should expect to make 2 paperweights during this class. No experience necessary. Tuition: $85. Hours: Sundays and Fridays 1-4pm. See Calendar for dates.

Glass Fusing Workshop
Glass fusing is the process of melting glass together in a kiln. In this workshop, students will learn different techniques to make a fused glass collage tiles. We’ll start with the basics of glass cutting, then add curves, and painting techniques with glue and frit in the later weeks. 4-week sessions. Maximum 12 students. Tuition: $140 + some materials.

Half-Day Workshop – The Hands-on Bubble
Here’s your opportunity for a more hands-on version of our popular ‘Blow-a-Bubble’. You have all the fun while our glass artists do the hard work! As always, we’ll explain the safety procedures and how to use the tools. After a demonstration you’ll get busy, choosing colors and design elements. We’ll do the hot work of gathering molten glass on your pipe, but you’ll pretty much do the rest! Each participant will create 2 large, beautiful Bubbles! Maximum 6 students. Tuition: $95. Hours: Sats or Suns 9:00am-12:30pm.

1-Day Workshop –  Glassblowing Lite
In this 1-day workshop, instructors guide students through the fundamentals of glass blowing. We’ll focus on safety and the proper use of tools. Following our concise demonstrations, instructors will set up each piece, so students can focus on pipe and tool skills. At the end of the workshop, students will have a variety of simple bubbles and glasses of their own making. Minimum 2 students, maximum 6 students. Tuition: $190. Hours: Sats and Suns 8:30-3:30pm. 2-Day Workshop – Glassblowing Intro
In this 2-day (or 4 night) workshop, students will dive in to the fundamentals of glass blowing. We’ll focus on safety and the proper use of tools. It’s very hands-on, with lots of practice time, following our concise demonstrations. By the end of the workshop, students will have a variety of simple bubbles and glasses of their own making. Minimum 2 students, maximum 6 students. Tuition: $365. Hours: weekends 8:30-3:30pm or 4 Weds nights from 6-9pm. Calendar for dates.

We have over 12 years combined teaching experience and have designed several learning formats. Workshops must have a minimum of 2 participants. Sign up 4 participants in a 1-Day or 2-Day workshop at the same time and get a 10% discount! Contact Hot Sand by phone/email for more information.

By appointment, Paperweight, Hands-on Bubble Sessions can be run for 2 students.

All art glass must be annealed, cooled slowly overnight. Blown pieces you make in your workshop will be ready for pick-up the following day. shipping is available for an additional charge. Fusings will be ready once-a-week.

Registration is first-come, first-served. Classes and workshops must be paid in full upon registration. Confirmation of your registration will be emailed once your payment is processed.

If you cannot attend a Hot Sand workshop or class you've enrolled in, please contact us to see if we can accommodate you in another session. We will not offer make-up classes for individual sessions missed.

If you have to cancel a Hot Sand workshop or class more than 30 days before it takes place, we will issue a refund, less a $50 processing fee. Hot Sand will not give refunds on workshops or classes cancelled less than 30 days before the scheduled date or for individual sessions missed.

All materials are included in the Glassblowing prices listed above. Fusing students may purchase 6" x 6" squares of colored glass for $10/ea. Course fees cover the use of all glass and tools, but not shipping of pieces made. Your pieces are available for pick-up in the studio. Shipping can be arranged for an additional charge.

Hot Sand is not responsible for work left in the Studio over ten days, or in public areas.

In the studio: Protective eyewear must be worn at all times. Flammable and synthetic fabrics like polyester or rayon should not be worn. Open-toe shoes or sandals are not permitted. Long hair should be tied back. And please remove your rings and bracelets.
